Bernardine Cohen was a daughter of Moses Cohen, a horse dealer, and Emma Steinweg. She married in Oldenzaal Meyer Cutzien on 29 August 1919, a son of Benjamin Aron Cutzien and Judik Kan. Bernardine's family-in-law- has changed the family name into the more Dutch-sounding name Krukziener and Meyer Cutzien was also known as Maurits Krukziener.
