Joël Mozes Bloemendaal was deported to Auschwitz from Vught via Westerbork on the so-called children's transport. He was 6 when he died.

According to tradition David Michael Erich (Erich) Bloemendaal was afraid to go into hiding with two little children. The family had a place to go into hiding, but did not make use of it.
