Mathilde de Groot was a daughter of Samuel Meijer de Groot (1863-1926) and Sientje Presser (geb. 1886). From an earlier marriage of her father, she had two half-brothers. One of them survived the war. The other, Salomon Samuel de Groot was also killed, with his entire family.
