Michael van der Horst

On 26 February 1814 King William I decreed that the Nederlandsch Israëlitisch Seminarium (NIS) was to be established in Amsterdam to train rabbis, teachers and other officers serving the Jewish community.
Michael van der Horst, the son of Herman, attended the NIS.

Michael van der Horst hoorde bij degenen die de eerste oproep voor tewerkstelling ontvingen in juli en augustus 1942. Hij kwam met zijn broers Maurits en Jesaja Jules op 20 augustus 1942 in Westerbork aan. De volgende dag al werden de drie broers doorgestuurd naar Auschwitz.
