Dina Hooremans-Engers

Joseph Emanuel Hooremans was the son of Levie Hooremans and Naatje Waisfisz. At the wedding of his sister Marie to Isidor Engers, he met Dina (Dien) Engers. She was the daughter of Lion Engers and Naatje Hangjas. Dien had been living in Brooklyn, but moved back to the Netherlands to be married to Joseph in 1921. Joseph worked for the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics.

Dina Hooremans-Engers was samen met nog zes andere Joods onderduikers verborgen in het huis van Emma van Dillewijn op de Scheltemalaan in Amersfoort. Op 8 maart 1944 werd hier een inval gedaan. Onderduikverleenster Emma Dillewijn werd ook gearresteerd. Ze stierf in kamp Ravensbrück.
