Catharina Gokkes

Catharina Gokkes (also known as Kathy) was deported to Sobibor. During the uprising of October 1943, she managed to escape. She joined a partisan group. She died of typhoid.

A reference to Catharina Gokkes can be found in Lou de Jong, Het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden in de Tweede Wereldoorlog (The Kingdom of the Netherlands in World War II) Part 8b, page 840.

Catherina was a very close friend of my mother Kitty Gokkes and I'm pretty sure someone got it wrong that she was also known as Kitty. My Mother Kitty (Boom) Gokkes is still living in Australia.
She can't remember Catherina ever being called Kitty the same as her. I believe it should be Katty.

De lotgevallen van Catharina Gokkes worden ook beschreven in Jules Schelvis, Vernietigingskamp Sobibor (Amsterdam 2008), pag. 215 en 224. Haar roepnaam is Kathy.

Catharina Gokkes (Kathy) werd op 6 april 1943 vanuit Westerbork als "Häftling" naar Sobibór getransporteerd.
