Flora Valença-Barents was married to Emanuel Valença, who was a diamond splitter and a diamond dealer. Emanuel died in 1933. The couple had one child that survived the war.
Flora lived together with her only child and their spouse. On 4 September 1942 the Dutch police rang the doorbel, claiming a mail delivery, and arrested Flora.
