Aäron Zegerius was a prominent advocate of the equality before the law of the deaf in society. He was founder and chairman of the interest group Nederlandsche Bond van Doofstommenvereenigingen, the predecessor of Dovenschap. When Aäron became fifty years old, he was in the midst of attention and was put in the flowers. In the war, he and other Jewish directors had to resign.
