De nog thuis wonende dochter Ellen verteld haar verhaal in "Skate to Survive". Hier verteld ze over hoe ze in contact gekomen is met het kunstschaatsen en hoe ze de oorlog heeft overleefd. In 1964 was haar dochter Petra de tweede Amsterdamse op het podium naast Sjoukje Dijkstra bij de Olympische Winter Spelen in Innsbruck. Haar dochter kwam uit voor Canada en won de bronze medaille.
