Rachel was born in a family with eleven children. Two of them died in childhood. The other children were all killed during the Holocaust.
Rachel is een dochter van Machiel Zak en Judith Olivier. Ze trouwde 9 april 1913 met Levie Koopman (A'dam, 31 mei 1890).
