Arnold Rood

Arnold Rood, geb. 24.08.1913 te Amsterdam, is op 26.08.1942 met transport no. 24 gedeporteerd vanuit het Franse doorgangskamp Drancy naar Auschwitz.

Hij woonde in Amsterdam (Ned.).

Zijn naam komt voor bovenaan een lijst met namen van gevangenen in kamp Pithiviers, ongeveer 80 km ten zuiden van Parijs. Hij heeft dus een vergeefse poging ondernomen om naar Spanje of Zwitserland te ontkomen.

Arnold Rood and his wife Debora née Van Kleef were trying in July 1942 to reach Switzerland. They were arrested in Pontarlier (Dept. Doubs) on August 2, perhaps after a failed tentative to cross the border. Put into jail in Pontarlier, they were transferred to camp Pithiviers on August 8. From there they were sent to Drancy, and deported to Auschwitz in convoy Nr. 24, on August 26, 1942.
