"Louis Cohen was de tweede zoon van Isidoor en Frederika Cohen. Hij groeide op met zijn twee jaar oudere broer Joop, eerst in Amsterdam, daarna in Hilversum en in 1938 verhuisde het gezin weer terug naar Amsterdam. Nichtje Nanny woonde ondertussen ook bij de familie Cohen. Het gezin bleef tot juli 1942 intact."
