About Flora Barber-van Velzen

Flora van Velzen was a daughter of Isaac van Velzen and Schoontje Grijsaart. She married 2 January 1901 in Amsterdam Manus Barber, a son of Meijer Barber and Judic Metz. The couple had eleven children, of whom one son died in childhood and one daughter (Roza) survived the Holocaust. (Roza's husband Emanuel Polak however, lost his life 2 May 1945 somewhere in the Shoah). The other children Meijer, …

De vijfde en jongste zoon van Gompel Polak en Bloeme van Kolm heette Emanuel. Op het moment van zijn militaire keuring, op 2 juni 1938, was hij marktkoopman. Er was eerst diamantbewerker in het militieregister genoteerd, maar dit is doorgestreept. Hij had toen zes klassen Lager Onderwijs gehad.
