In addition, a Jokos file (number 53798) on this family is at the Amsterdam Municipal Archive. Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 1).

Samuel Barend had in de loop der jaren vele beroepen. Een daarvan was o.a.'magazijnbediende manufacturen' bij textielgroothandel De Vries van Buuren, later werkte hij bij De Bijenkorf, als 'reiziger' bij Hamilton Beach in de Leidsestraat. Vanaf 1937 verdiende hij zijn geld als musicus. 

On 22 and 23 Febuary 1941, raids took place in Amsterdam,  in which 390 Jewish men were arrested and deported. Only two of them survived. A recent investigation has shown that more than 100 men were gassed in Hartheim Castle, while Mauthausen was established as the official place of death.

In February 2021, the City Archive of Amsterdam opened the exhibition “The raids of 22 and 23 February 1941 i…
