Babette was a daughter of Friedrich Fritz (Köln, 11 February 1890) and Rosa Schmitz (Ketten, 13 October 1888). Her father passed away in 1932.
During the war her mother and three of her four sisters were in Amsterdam. One of her sisters survived deportation to Bergen-Belsen, another one was in hiding.
One sister had emigrated to Canada before the war.
