Coenraad Hiegentlich was a butcher in Assen like his father and his brother Jacob Salomon. He also owned a boarding house and restaurant at 2 Singelstraat in Assen, where he provided Jewish travelling salesmen with food and lodgings in exchange for payment. Like several members of the Hiegentlich family, Coenraad left Assen and moved to Amsterdam in 1917.
