Marianne Sluijter was an extremely well-known market stallholder in Amsterdam. She had a fruit stall on Waterlooplein and sometimes sold her fruit outside the Wilhelmina Gasthuis (hospital) or on the bridge known as Blauwbrug.
Marianne Sluijter was married to Abraham de Hond, who died three weeks before the outbreak of war. They had eight children, three of whom survived the war.
