Samuel van Tijn was a son of Izak van Tijn and Esther van Leer. He married Roosje Gompers in Gouda on 25 August 1925, a daughter of Benjamin Gompers and Reintje Beem. The couple had seven children, who all , togheter with their mother Roosje, were killed in Sobibor.
