Clara Velleman-Koekoek was met haar man Andries Velleman, zoon Jacob Hartog (geboren 1918) en zijn verloofde, in Nijmegen ondergedoken. Zij werden allen in het najaar van 1943 verraden en gearresteerd op het onderduikadres Molenweg 41(of 19-21)  door de beruchte Nijmeegse Jodenjagers Wiebe, Verstappen en De Ruiter. Op dit onderduikadres woonde groentehandelaar V.M. van Duijghuizen.
