About David Hamerslag

David Hamerslag was a son of Karel Hamerslag and Esther Godschalk. He was a brother of Levie Hamerslag.
David was married to a non-Jewish woman. They had five children. Spouse and children survived the war.

How David was caught

The Nazis came for David one night. They heard the Nazis coming, so David fled to the attic to hide in the coal bin. His daughter went into his bed, so that they wouldn't find a warm bed with no one in it. Unfortunately, David didn't have time to put socks on, and they saw his feet and that's how they found him.

How David was really caught

The response of 30 juli 2011 is incorrect.
David Hamerslag was taken away during a raid on the street (former Waterlooplein). His daughter Esther Hamerslag now ninety years of age, can confirm this.
