Ir. Alfred Spitz (1917) is op last van de bezetter bij het NLL ontslagen omdat hij Joods was. Aanvankelijk kreeg hij nog enige maanden uitstel maar moest hij per eind september 1941 het NLL toch verlaten. Ondanks diverse pogingen hem van deportatie te vrijwaren is hij half februari 1945 in het kamp Dachau aan typhus overleden.
