Bevriend met Sal Santen en Herman Musaph. Volgde de 5-jarige HBS-A (handelsschool). Werkte als corrector bij het Instituut voor Individuele Ontwikkeling (IVIO) tot hij daar vanwege zijn Jodendom werd ontslagen. Nam deel aan Februaristaking. Vanaf 23 februari 1942 sociaal werker bij Sociale Zorg (Houtmarkt 10) van de Joodse Raad, volgde hiervoor een opleiding maatschappelijk werk bij de Joodse Raad…
