Rachel van der Poorten was a daughter of Kosman van der Poorten and Ester Mozes Groen. She maried Wolf de Vries in 1885 in Amsterdam. He died in 1922. They had at least nine children, among whom Sophia (who died at a young age in 1918), Mozes, Eva (with whom she lived in 1941), Cosman (who died at a young age in 1896), Bloeme, Abraham, Isaac (who died at a young age in 1901) and Cosman.
