Aron (1907) was de zoon van David de Groot en Betje de Groot-Wagenaar. Hij had drie zussen: Kaatje (1911) Anna (1914)en Marianna Elisabeth (1918). Alleen Kaatje overleefde de Tweede Wereldoorlog. In 1920 verhuisde het gezin van Alkmaar naar Dorpsstraat 67 in Bergen.

Het gezin moest in april 1942 naar Amsterdam vertrekken. Aron en Kaatje waren al het huis uit en woonden in Amsterdam. David, Rosalie…
