Hijman de Jong was a son of Siemen de Jong and Sara Prijs. He married on 28 December 1910 to Hanna Velleman from IJsselmuiden, who passed away in Amsterdm on 6 October 1939. The couple had one son, Simon.
Hijman remarried on 13 May 1942 to the widow of Levie Rubens, Elisabeth Dressou.
