Piet Rubens was a fitter. He was unmarried. He belonged to an illegal armed group in Liendert. On 23 April 1945, it came to a shoot-out with Nazi soldiers. Piet Rubens escaped but was nevertheless captured and shot between Hoogland and Soest by a Nazi petty officer.
