Abraham is een zoon van Louis Hein van der Woude en Dina Iza Kropveld. Hij trouwde 24 juli 1931 met Elsiene Helena Kropveld (21 jaar), dochter van Aron Izak Kropveld en Henriette Frederika van Raalte.
