Arnold Carel Cosman

Arnold Carel Cosman had his PhD in 1939, as a classicist.
He died as a lieutenant of the 16 Dep.Bat. on the 15th of May, 1940 by committing suicide in Purmerend, where he was buried.
The family lived in Haarlem.

It is still an extremely sensitive topic: suicide during the Second World War. Historians have not known what to do with it for a long time. What is the place of suicide in war history?

Op 24 april 2022 hield dr. Pauline Micheels een lezing over de twee Stolpersteine aan de Witte Singel in Leiden. Deze lezing werd uitgesproken ter gelegenheid van de jaarlijkse herdenking van de jodenvervolging in Leiden.
