Iwan Hiegentlich

Iwan Hiegentlich was a radiotelegraph operator in Assen. As a Jew, he was dismissed from his position at the start of the occupation. He tried to escape to unoccupied France. He arranged to meet somebody on the Kerkstraat and carried a violin as the agreed symbol of identification.

Iwan Hiegentlich, geb. 11.04.1916 te Assen, is op 06..11.1942 met transport no. 42 vanuit het Franse doorgangskamp Drancy naar Auschwitz gedeporteerd.

Hij gaf op van beroep radiotelegrafist te zijn.

Zijn laatste adres in Frankrijk was: 72, Route (Rue) d'Auxonne in Dijon.

Zijn naam komt voor op een lijst met namen van gevangenen in Dijon.
