About Mirjam Scheiner

Mirjam Scheiner was Emile Jacobs en Luise Cats' foster daughter. Mirjam was smuggled to the Netherlands in February 1939, when she was 7 weeks old. The Jacobs family in Amsterdam took care of her to the extent that they eventually wished to adopt her. Evidence to this fact comes from a letter from 1939 addressed to Mirjam's biological parents. Mirjam Scheiner's parents - David Scheiner and Paula Scheiner-Bienstock - lived with their three children Erich, Doris and Mirjam in Dortmund, Leopoldstraße 30. With the support of the Kinder-Comité Amsterdam Mirjam was brought to Amsterdam in february 1939. Her parents and siblings fled to Belgium in summer 1939, than to France.
