Werner Rudolf Breslauer was a photographer and lithographer. He owned a business with his brother. Werner Rudolf Breslauer was married to Bella Weihsmann. They had three children: Stefan, Max Michael and a child that survived the war. The family originally lived in Leipzig but fled to the Netherlands in 1938. They settled in Leiden, where Werner Rudolf Breslauer worked for a printer.
In the summer of 1940 non-Dutch Jews had to leave Leiden, because the city was near the sea. The Breslauers moved to a boarding house in Alphen aan de Rijn and left for Utrecht shortly thereafter. From there they were deported to Theresienstadt via Westerbork and subsequently to Auschwitz.
