Froukje Saartje Stoppelman was married to Louis Cohen. Two children were born to the couple, Alida and a child who survived the war. In 1942 the family had to move to Amsterdam by order of the occupying forces, and they moved in with Froukje Cohen-Stoppelman’s parents. Also living in the house were Jan and Miep Gies, the couple who helped Anne Frank and her family. Miep Gies has described the situation in detail in her book Herinneringen aan Anne Frank. The Cohen-Stoppelman family went into hiding in Hilversum, but were arrested there. The children escaped. Addition of a visitor of the website
