Jonas van Norden and his family

Jonas Norden was a son of Jacob van Norden. At the age of 24 he received a Diploma from the Rabbinical Comittee of Amsterdam to give religious lectures. He was a school teacher of Jewish studies. He worked also in the 'bet din' (house of judgement) as a scribe, writing divorce documents.

Johanna Bachrach was a daughter of Joseph Arieh and Helena Bachrach. She worked as a home tailor for child costumes.

Joseph (Joppi) Norden worked at the beginning of the war in a business company in Amsterdam. Furthermore, he worked as a cleaner in a hospital. After his parents were deported he was caught, even though he had a Sperre, and was deported to Westerbork. During the train journey he tried to jump down from the wagon, but he was caught and punished. Finally he was deported to Auschwitz.

Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 8893/6168).
