Emanuel Mendels was married to Martha van Engel. The couple had four children: Keetje, Catharina, Donald Emanuel and another child who survived the war. The family lived at 60 Goirleseweg in Tilburg. After Emanuel Mendels was arrested on 29 September 1942, his wife Martha and their children went into hiding in late September and early October 1942. Mother Martha and the three children Keetje, Catharina and Donald Emanuel were caught and deported.
