Wolf and Henriëtte Erszler-Spits had gone into hiding in Delft in the Van der Mastenstraat 11. They were betrayed by a member of the Landwacht (who was liquidated on 13 March 1945 not far from his own house).
On 5 January 1943 the couple was brought to Scheveningen prison.

The police commissioner of Delft requested that Wolf Wilhelm Erszler, a technician, and his wife Henriëtte Erszler-Spits, residents of Delft, be located, detained and brought to trial. They were suspected of having changed their place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
