Samuel Poliakoff and his family

Samuel Poliakoff studied medicine in Amsterdam, where he sat for his medical finals on 2 July 1919. He obtained his doctoral degree on 13 June 1922 in Amsterdam on a thesis about 'Calcium and tuberculosis'. Samuel Poliakoff lived and practised as family doctor at 154 van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam. He also practised at 139, 1st Jan Steenstraat. He was a physician, later senior medical officer of the Portuguese-Jewish Hospital in Amsterdam.

Samuel Poliakoff was chairman of the Amsterdam branch of the Dutch Zionist league and a member of the Association for Jewish Sciences. He wrote an article in De Vrijdagavond of 3 June 1924 on 'Tuberculosis among Jews and non-Jews'.

Samuel Poliakoff was married to Margaretha Levie. The couple had two children who survived the war.
