Simon Pool was a son of Simon Mozes Pool and Leentje de Vries. He was one of the six children in that family of whom three children have died before the war. However, also his brothers Hartog and Gottfried did not survive the Holocaust.
Simon married in Amsterdam on 22 December 1910 to Celine Judith Heigmans, daughter of Salomon Heigmans and Saartje Serlui.
