Izak (Jitschak) Asscher was a son of Abraham Asscher. He decided to become a furniture maker so he would be able to work in Palestine.

Izak Asscher lived in hiding with a family in De Krite near Boornbergum. He was betrayed, arrested and brought to the prison in Leeuwarden. There he was terribly tortured by members of the SD. Izak Asscher tried to take his life by cutting through his radial artery. But this was discovered on time and he received a blood transfusion. Then he was transported to Westerbork and further deported to the East.
