About Hartog Glasbeek

Hartog Glasbeek was a son of Mozes Glasbeek and Saartje Brilleman. He married Saartje Lucasse on 8 April 1896 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Roelof Lucasse and Mijntje Groen. The couple  Glasbeek-Lucasse had ten children in total. Their son Manuel died in 1914, only four months old. Their children Mozes, Mijntje and Simon have survived the Holocaust. However, the other six children, namely Roelof, Jetje, Zadok, Joseph, Jacob and Elias were killed in the Shoah. Saartje Lucasse herself passed away in Amsterdam on 11 February 1934 and was interred two days later, on 13 February 1934 in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen.

Hartog remarried 1 May 1935 the widow of Abraham de Jong, Sophie Meiler, daughter of Abraham Meiler and Henrietta Coopman. From this marriage no children have been born anymore.

Hartog Glasbeek was registered in Camp Westerbork on 9 April 1943, together with his wife Sophia Meiler and they stayed in barack 61 untill they were deported on 20 April to Sobibor, where they have been killed immediately upon arrival there on 23 April 1943.
