David de Leeuw joined the Hollandia-Kattenburg textile factory in Amsterdam on 2 March 1939. On Wednesday, 11 November 1942, around 4:30 PM, Willy Lages conducted the Sicherheitspolizei raid on the Hollandia factories. All exits were blocked, and the Jewish staff members were taken away that evening. Photographs of all workers taken away that evening, as well as those deported previously, appear in the 'Boek der tranen' [Book of tears].

David de Leeuw was a son of Samuel de Leeuw and Doortje Brilleslijper, a family with two childrne: Emanuel and David.
He married 16 December 1936 to Elisabeth Italiaander, daughter of 532055 and Sara Mof. Elisabeth survived the war and remarried after the war to Samuel Santen.
David and Elisabeth had one son Samuel, who hase survived the Holocaust too.
