About Hartog Zegerius

Hartog Zegerius was a son of Meijer Hartog Zegerius and Duifje Lap. He married Susanna de Jong on 19 April 1899 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Wolf de Jong and Naatje Lampie. Hartog and Susanna had eight children together; four of them died in childhood and three daughters have survived the Holocaust. Their daughter Margaretha however, who was pregnant of her first baby, was deported to Sobibor where she has been killed on 21 May 1943.

Hartog's wife Susanna passed away on 3 June 1917 and he remarried 22 January 1922 Rachel Dupont, a daughter of Wolf Dupont and Mietje Piller. That same year their son Maurice was born, who was killed in 1941 in Mauthausen.

Hartog Zegerius was born into a family of ten children, of whom two have survived the Holocaust and one child died before the war in the Apeldoornse Bos. The other siblings, Levie, Elisabeth, Michiel, Lion, Barend and Sophia have been killed all during the Shoah.
