Walter Weinberg and Ruth Hoffmann emigrated to Palestine in the beginning of 1935. At the end of the year they returned. In May 1939 they tried to reach Cuba and the United States on the St. Louis, but had to return. At the end of 1939 they arrived in camp Westerbork.
