Aron Barend, born 21 October 1910 in Amsterdam, was a son of Samuël Barend and Esther van Ploeg. He married Esther Brilleman in Amsterdam on 20 May 1934, a daughter of Isaac Brilleman and Clara Bromet, who was born 4 February 1909. The couple had two children, namely Samuel in 1936 and Isaac in 1939. Both children have survived the Holocaust; after the war they have been adopted and with their new family left for United States of America.
After their marriage, Aron and Esther lived at Plantage Franschelaan 32 3rd floor, which also turned out to be their last known address in the city. Before his marriage, Aron was chauffeur and mechanic; later he had to earn a living as sorter of clothing and rags. His wife Esther was a furrier.
At the time of the large-scale round-ups in Amsterdam in the end of May 1943, Aron Barend and Esther Brilleman were arrested and taken to Westerbork, where they ended up in barrack 55. On 25 May, together with 2860 other deportees, they were both put on transport to Sobibor where all on arrival there on 28 May 1943 were immediately killed.
