Engelina Margaretha Carry Lissaur (known as Ellien) was a pupil at the Montessori school De Wielewaal at Corellistraat 1 in Amsterdam. She was deported to Bergen-Belsen during the war. Ellien Lissaur was born on the September 2nd 1930 in Amsterdam, as the daughter of Jessiah Lissaur and Lieselotte Lissaur (nee Ballin).

Jessiah and Lieselotte, also called Lilo, had married a year earlier. Jessiah was from a wealthy, influential Jewish family from Amsterdam, who reportedly even had ties with the Dutch Queen.

This was taken in the mid 1930s, the man in the picture is Jessia Lissaur, Engelina's father, and the children are class mates probably from the Montesorri School she attended, Engelina is the third one from right.

Engelina (called Ellien) was in hiding in Amsterdam for most of the war. In 1944 she was arrested and deported together with her mother to the camp Bergen-Belsen. Ellien was 14 years old and had growing pains. Malnutrition and hard work weakened Ellien fast. After being deported to two other camps, she fell terribly ill. Ellien lived to see the liberation.
