Marjolijn Blits:
Nechmije Stiel was mijn overgrootvader. Erg ontroerend om de geschiedenis zo zwart op wit te zien.

Beste Marjolijn, vanmidag kreeg ik dit bericht: "This is such a long shot, but I am sharing it anyway. My father, Ben Peltzman z"l, who died in 1993, once said that he'd had relatives in Holland, but never told me anything about them (and stupidly, I never asked). After he died, I found this among his photographs -- on the back, all it says is "my cousin in Holland" -- no name, no nothing. A few years ago I sent it to one of the Jewish newspapers in Amsterdam, who printed it with a request for information, but there was no response. I'm not really expecting one now, but I'm wondering if anyone can spot any clues to anything in the picture -- seems to be a bar mitzvah picture, I'm guessing by the clothing that it's 1920s. My father was Ben (Benzion) Peltzman, spelled Pelcman in Poland, which is where he was from -- Zaklikow, near Lublin. His mother was Rivka Goldman, his father Psachje Pelcman. His grandparents were Jechiel Pelcman and Sura Brotlayb on his father's side; Maier Goldman and Feygeh Flaisher on his mother's side. I don't think I will ever find out who this cousin is, and I suspect that if I had any family in Holland they did not survive the Shoah... but I don't know how to find out more."

Inmiddels zijn we er waarschijnlijk achter wie de jongen op de foto is: Samuel STIEL
