Izrael Splitter was de jongste van de twee broers Splitter, die allebei bonthandelaar waren in Den Haag. De N.V. Pelterijenhandel Splitter Frères bestond sinds 1930 (sinds 1936 als N.V.) en had filialen in Amsterdam, Antwerpen en Parijs. Drie broers (Baruch, Josef en Izrael) waren directeuren, twee in Antwerpen woonachtige broers commissarissen.

Israël (sometimes spelled as Izrael) Splitter originated from Poland. When the war broke out, he was in the Netherlands with his wife and child. Israël Splitter hid a few items of jewellery with acquaintances in The Hague. When their houses were searched, those items of jewellery were found. The wife of Israël Splitter survived the war.
