David Gersons was weduwnaar en woonde alleen. Zijn Duitse dienstbode woonde in hetzelfde huis. Tussen 1920 en 1940 had David samen met zijn zoons een zeer succesvolle internationale handel in huiden opgebouwd. Hij behoorde tot de elite van Tiel.
