Jozef Garson

Jozef Garson was in posession of a fine collection of postcards. The cards dated to the Edwardian period and came from all over the world. The quality and the stamps would be the envy of any collector. The cards had been sent to Jozef and his brother Hartog Garson by a nephew who was a sailor on a merchantman. He would lose his life when the merchantman went down in the India ocean.

De neef, Garson Garson, waarvan Jozef Garson zijn kaarten ontving, stuurde de kaarten niet vanaf een handelsschip; hij was stoker op de Michiel de Ruyter, maar is bij de Slag op de Javazee, net als heel veel marinemensen, gesneuveld op 7 februari 1942. Garson Garson was een zoon van de broer van Jozef, Minko Garson, die zich rond 1900 in Den Helder gevestigd heeft.
