Maurits van Thijn was a son of Lodewijk van Thijn and Betje van der Horst. He was born 4 May 1891 in Wageningen into a family of butchers. Maurits self was also a butcher by trade. On 20 November 1922 he married in Schoten (Haarlem) Hanna Keizer, a daugher of the butcher Lodewijk Keizer and Henderina van de Kaars. The couple moved to Zupthen, where in Febuary 1924 their daughter Bettij was born, however, she passed away already after 4 months.
Accordint nots of the registration card of Maurits van Thijn from the file cabinet of the Jewish Council, Hanna Keizer left Zutphen with "unknown destination". She might have suvived the war. Maurits van Thijn however died in Nijmegen on 16 November 1943.
