About Mozes Machin and his wife Mathilda Glazer.

Mozes Machin was a son of Hirch Machin from Minsk and Susanna Löwenstein from Enschede. He married Mathilda Glazer from Meppel in Amsterdam on 17 March 1921, a daughter of Gerhard Glazer and Rachel Prins. The couple had one son on 27 October 1924: Hans Machin

According notes on his registration card from the file cabinet of the Jewish Council, Hans Machin survived the Holocaust by going into hiding.  Notes made clear that Hans was emerged (“opgedoken”) 19 March 1945 at Frans van Mierisstraat 84 1st floor in Amsterdam and as survivor has been registrated in June 1945 in the repatriation centre which was located in the  Philips storage company building (veemgebouw) in Eindhoven.

Mozes Machin, a trader in printed matter and his wife Mathilda moved 4 April 1931 from Ruyschstraat 97 ground floor to Wielingenstraat 4 2nd floor in Amsterdam. Later, on 26 June 1940 they moved to Dongestraat 23 1st floor.

Accordign notes on his registration card from the file cabinet of the Jewish Council, Mozes Machin “would have fallen off the streetcar” on 26 January 1942, however another note stated that “ he was beaten off that tram by a rifle butt”. (only up from 30 June 1942 it was forbidden for Jews to travel by public transport ¹).

The result of that was that his wife Mathilda Glazer six months later, on 17 July 1942 “has taken her own life under pressure of the circumstances" ²).
